My name is Elizabeth Wallace. I live on the Eastern Shore of Va. My mother is 94. She needed to be in a rehabilitation center because of a recent fall. It was recommended by the Va Health Services that Walter Reed Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center was an excellent place. It was. My mother received the best of care there. All of the staff were kind to her and willing to talk to me about her on going care. All of her needs were meet.. Even though it was a couple of hrs. of driving for my husband and myself, I felt sure that she would have no problems having her needs met as we would have to leave to return home. I knew she was being taken care of. Personal calls were made by the Social Worker Hannah to me, up- dating me with her medical needs, unlike the poor experiences that I have had with other facilities. I truly thank all of the staff for, at all times, their professional care. I would recommend Walter Reed to anyone. Sincerely Mrs. Wallace, thank you.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Recently my father became a patient with the center, for Rehabilitation due to surgery. He was able to come home today. Throughout his whole time he received the upmost care and respect. The entire STAFF is caring and professional. His CNA'S and PT provider's were above and beyond. His case worker Hannah is a delightful, all of the staff kept me in the loop about his care and his progress. Even though my questions and concerns , they were there to help me and answer. My father will miss them all , and would like to give them all a huge hug for making his stay a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

My Aunt received very good care while she was here. The staff and personal made us and her very comfortable when we came to visit. We sometimes, before the pandemic ,would just show up and she was fine. I just feel that they are understaffed and they try to do the best with the fine personal that they do have. I can understand that the job can sometimes become a bit overwhelming but isn't that the case with any job and any of us! But yet and still...... By my visits it made me aware that some people on the outside don't understand what it is like to have to completely care for an individual who may be somewhat incapable of fully taking care of themselves and from what I have seen some on the outside are not capable of doing this. It can be come really taxing on a caregiver weather they want to admit it or not It is indeed a task and there are some types of protocol that some on the outside don't quite understand. All I can say is walk a mile in these healthcare providers shoes and I'm sure there will be a different outlook for some. They treated my Aunt really nice and she often spoke of how happy she was to be there.

This nursing home is terrible. Nurses do not want to do their job. They are lazy. They treat your loved ones awful. When your loved ones need help, the nurses ignore them. You have to stay on them all the time. I do not recommend this nursing home.

My mom LOVES being at Walter Reed. The staff is so great. They're taking amazing care of her. She's been to several facilities and was mistreated and left in worse shape then when she got there. I wish she'd been able to get into Walter Reed back when she first started rehab. The nurses are taking excellent care of her. Kathy, Katie, Tabitha, April, Zoe... the therapy staff..absolutely wonderful! Madison and Hannah are amazing as well. Emails are replied to within a couple of hours, phone calls are returned promptly, visits are easy to schedule. Everyone is super accommodating! I'm not sure what my mom, or my sister and I will do when my mom goes home with home health! We will all miss the staff at WR! Thank you sooo very much for taking such great care of my mom! We appreciate you all so much! I highly recommend WR for rehab!

Compare The Number of Problems
Types of Problems at Nursing Homes
Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.
| Residents Affected | |||
| Severity of the Deficiency | Few | Some | Many |
| Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety | J | K | L |
| Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy | G | H | I |
| No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy | D | E | F |
| No actual harm with potential for minimal harm | A | B | C |

Staffing Levels Per Resident per Day
Medicare determines the expected staffing time per resident per day depending on level of care the residents of Walter Reed Nursing & Rehabilitation Center require. It is important to compare the reported time to expected time for a single facility instead of comparing the amount of time per resident of two facilities. Learn why.
